Car Rental Conditions in Uganda
To hire a vehicle in Uganda, you must be aged between 23 and 70 years and be a holder of a valid international driver’s permit for the past 2 years and with no endorsements.
Submit a copy of your passport, driving license, full contact details, and a full advance payment (20% of the total amount) to confirm your booking and reserve the car for the specified period. The balance can be paid on arrival as you pick the car. An additional cash deposit may be required under certain special circumstances.
Driving License & Age Limits
Drivers should present a valid national or international driver’s license held at least two years and minimum 21 years of age for groups Economy to Wagon, 25 years of age and minimum 3 years of driver’s license for groups Standard and higher, 28+ years of age for groups Luxury or higher. If you are over 75 years old kindly inform us, age restrictions may apply in certain locations.
Minimum Rental Period
Minimum rental period is 24 hours. Even if you want to hire the car for less than 24 hours a whole-day rate applies.

Special rates and terms may apply for long term rentals (minimum 30 days)

- Optional extras (additional drivers, infant/child seat, special equipment, and optional insurances)

Additional Drivers
Rental cars may be driven by maximum 2 additional drivers apart from main driver. Charges often apply for additional drivers which may be bought at the time of reservation. Additional drivers should meet age and license requirements at the time of car rental and should also be registered in the rental agreement. If any accident occurs while non-registered driver is driving the rental car insurance will be void.
Infant/Child/Booster seats
We arrange for infant/child/booster seats on request during the booking process and they are offered at an additional cost up to USD 10.00 per day depending on the number of rental days.
Flight Information
The client is responsible of providing the correct flight number and arrival time, before departure. If this is not available at the time of booking, please ensure that you will inform us of this at least seven days prior to the travel date. If the information is not provided in time, the company is not held responsible nor compensation offered. This will help to prepare staff for your pickup and other services required.
Delivery & Collection
There is no delivery and collection fee at the cities where DK J Car Rental Uganda Limited offices are during the office working hours. If you need to pick up/drop off from hotel, accommodation address or out of city limits or office hours, there may be a fee of USD 10 per Km applied.
Delayed Return/Early Return
Delayed Return: For each hour the charge is 1/3 of daily rate and in case of extra 4 hours or more, it will be counted as an extra day.
Early Return: No refunds given for vehicles returned before the specified return date/time written in the rental agreement.
Condition of the Vehicle
The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was rented. Any damages may lead to charges at return.
Fuel Policy
we don’t provide full tank, so client should return the car as it is rented. There is no refund if the car is returned with more fuel than at pick up. However client may request pre-paid full tank at the time of booking.
Traffic Fines
Self drive clients must pay any legal responsibilities that will result from traffic violations during the rental period.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests should be emailed to us on time such that the cancellation procedure be considered.
Clients may get refund depending on the period of cancellation. Our cancellation policy:
- No refunds will be given for rentals ended early, for late collections, for no shows or for cancellations made after the rental start date.
Cancellation charges;
7 days or more before start date, 30%
6-3 days before start date 50%
2-0 days before start date 75%
The charges are based on the total cost of the car rental
